With March comes promises of spring and a time to celebrate women making history
I find the month of March particularly inspirational with the anticipation of spring that gives me the feeling of a new beginning. It is akin to the psychological promise and lift many of us to feel at the start of the New Year, but more deeply felt due to the sense of renewal and rebirth that spring elicits.Â
It feels like a good time to create, build or grow something. We know that farmers and gardeners will begin to prepare for the growing season. What can the rest of us do to capitalize on the energy provided by the anticipation of spring?Â
Hopefully aspiring designers and artists are so moved at this time of year that they create beautiful things for use and for pleasure that will allow them to achieve success.
If you are entrepreneurial, perhaps this is a good time to explore options, write your business plan or move on that opportunity you have been contemplating. There is no time like the present, the sooner you start the closer to success you become.
If you have been thinking about going back to school, do your research on the education and training opportunities that support your career goal; complete applications for admission and apply for scholarships and /or financial aid if you need it. Deadlines for admissions applications and financial aid are typically January through April 1. If you feel so inspired and would like to begin your training or education as soon as possible there are many institutions that offer accelerated programs that begin in March.
Look into programs at the community college in your area for these opportunities.
This is also a good time to renew your commitment to good health and hopefully the changing season will entice you outdoors for regular brisk walks. Health, both physical and mental, is the foundation on which rest all that we do or aspire to do; therefore, I hope many are motivated to take positive action toward improved health and well-being. Â
Fittingly, March is also the time set aside in our year to reflect on and honor the contributions of women to society. It is true that many folks are mindful throughout the year of all of the accomplishments and contributions that women have made throughout history and in every area including science, medicine, education, law, politics, social justice and other endeavors. However, what better time than spring for this recognition of women from every background, race or creed who has made a difference in the lives of many.  Â
